Action & Receiver Machining
At this station, a rough steel forging is transformed into the internal “skeleton” of the gun. The machinist cuts locking surfaces, bearing planes, hinge points, and internal cavities to extremely tight tolerances, while intentionally leaving a controlled amount of material for later hand-fitting. They constantly check dimensions and listen for subtle changes in vibration that can reveal flaws or stress in the steel. The goal is an action body that locks up strongly, wears predictably, and gives downstream fitters enough room to finish the joints by feel rather than by numbers alone.
